BRASKEM'S VOLUNTARY COMMITMENTS

Braskem is an active participant in international forums and debates, with the aim of encouraging and strengthening the business sector's contribution to sustainable development.

On the world scene, the company is part of the executive steering committee for the International Council of Chemical Industry Associations (ICCA), where it performs a major role in working groups on energy & climate change and chemical safety.

Braskem is a founder of the Brazilian Business Council for Sustainable Development (CEBDS) and Brazilian Global Pact Committee in Brazil. It currently has an important position in both business associations.

Responsible Care Program

A voluntary initiative implemented by the global chemical industry through the ICCA. The aim of Responsible Care is to improve the environmental management of chemical companies and their supply chain. Among the items observed are the safety of industrial units, processes and products, keeping workers healthyand protecting the environment. Global Compact

Since 2007, Braskem has been a signatory of the Global Compact, a United Nations program that aims to strengthen the application of corporate social responsibility around the world and is supported by more than 6,000 companies. In 2008, Braskem joined the Brazilian Global Compact Committee. Braskem is maintaining and reinforcing its ongoing support for the Global Compact. For more information see: www.globalcompact.org

Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP)

Braskem supports this initiative, which was launched in 2000 to collect and publish greenhouse gas emissions for more than 2,500 organizations in 60 countries. Braskem has been reporting its greenhouse gas emissions to the CDP since 2008. For more information, see: www.cdproject.net.

International Declaration for Cleaner Production

Braskem was the first Brazilian company to sign the declaration in 2004. This declaration forms part of the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), and its objective is to disseminate cleaner production policies and more sustainable production and consumption practices. Global Reporting Initiative (GRI)

This methodology guides the compilation of corporate sustainability reports to ensure that relevant and reliable information is presented consistently. Braskem's Annual Report has evolved over the years and is in accordance with the Core level of G4, the latest version of the GRI guidelines, covering all of the issues that are strategic to the company and its stakeholders.

Global Product Strategy (GPS)

Braskem leads this project in South America, which aims to promote the recognition and publication of risks to people and the environment resulting from the use of chemical products.

Braskem Manifesto on Climate Change

Entitled "We must Mature to be Green," this manifesto was launched in
August 2009 and details the company's challenges and commitments
to reducing the intensity of greenhouse gas emissions.

Quality and Responsible Use Program for Plastic Bags

Braskem supports a program led by Plastivida (the Socio-Environmental Institute for Plastics) in Brazil, whose goal is to ensure the quality of plastic bags, decrease waste and encourage responsible use of the product. Na Mão Certa ("On the Right Track") Program

Braskem, together with 710 other companies, is a signatory of the Business Pact Against the Sexual Exploitation of Children and Adolescents on Brazilian Highways, a Childhood Brasil and Instituto Ethos initiative. At Braskem, this program is run by the company's logistics department, which coordinates the application of the concepts developed by Na Mão Certa with our logistics

ISO 9001, 14001 and OHSAS 18001

A commitment to the pursuit of excellence is key for Braskem. The company's units are all certified under the ISO 9001 standard for quality management and the ISO 14001/RCMS standard for environmental management.
